I know many people are wondering the status of further releases.  Well, the truth is, I’m not sure.  I am now working at one of the major studios on a title due out later this year, so I am just not sure when I’ll get to them.  I still hope to, but I simply have no time right now.  I’ll keep you all posted.

NWN2 Transparency and Translucency

Throughout the forums and Vault and such I have seen many posts regarding the supposed lack of transparency and translucency in NWN2.  I can now confidently say these claims are completely false.  As you can see in the screen here, it supports it just fine and even gets some nice refraction and shading.  I will say that I have never been successful at adding an environment map for shininess to a semi-transparent placeable, but nor have I really tried.  I also don’t believe this could be accomplished for character armor simply because its a mass effect (no pun intended Bioware fans).  I may be wrong though, again.  I have never tried very hard.  I accomplished these 3 squares in 3 different ways.  The nearest is my own SEF.  There is a .dds texture with a 50% grey in the alpha, and then I set an SEF with a change alpha.  I them simply applied it to the model in the toolset.  The transparency will not show up until its in game.  I have seen transparency in the toolset before and I believe it had to do with where the SEF was placed in the file hierarchy, but I can’t remember.  The second cube is exactly the same but it has the NWN2 transparency added to it.  There is a smoke issue with the standard transparency so I never use it and my seems to shade and refract better.  The last cube is with no effect simply to demonstrate that an SEF needs to be added.  Here is the model properties:

The Curtain Wall

As I wait for requests and complaints to come in from Dragonlance Pack #1, which is now up on the NWN2 Vault, I have returned to the first project I ever did for Dragonlance and Neverwinter Nghts 2, The High Clerist’s Tower.  As many of you can see in the latest release, it was a hodgepodge of parts using different modelling techinques and various textures.  I decided to clean it up.  I am a much more efficient modeller now and I have a much better understanding of walkmesh.  I am reworking the High Clerist’s Tower as a single mesh, comlete with walkmesh where appropriate as well as Door HP.  It is moving very quickly.  I don’t have a planned release date for it at this time, but I don’t think it will be terribly long.

Here it is folks.. I am super busy right now.  Have one pro project in alpha and starting up another.  So, I am releasing damn near everything.  Now, some of the models need some work and I will revist those as I have time, but I know you all have been wanting the material, so out it goes.  The Solace work is in there as well as the High Clerist’s Tower.  The HCT needs some more work but you guys can at least start building with it and then just drag and update the new files.  I am awaiting FTP access for the vault, but in the meantime…

Be advised:

There is some half finished content in this pack that needs further work or updates, but there is a lot of completed work here as well.  I will make every effort to accomodate requests for fixes to models made through my blog listed above. 

There is hi res textures available upon request.

The original OBJ files are available upon request for those who would like to make adjustments to them.

Please feel free to use these files in your mods, all I ask, is that you give me credit.

I released several other things with this pack for future use as well.  Some models are in need of updating and I know this, however, many people have been asking for the release of this content for some time and so I decided to get it out to them.  There is an asset list included for those I am tracking, although many more need updated.  Please feel free to send along suggestions or comments straight to my email.  I did not have time to get these out in HAK etc, so as teams pick through the content I am sure we will see it added elsewhere.  Please, no complaints about content that appears to be half completed, as I said, I know there is some like this and I didnt have time to sort through it all.  If there is a particular piece you see that you need an adjustment for, drop me a line and I will try an fix it up for you.  There is a lot of textures in this pack and not all are currently in use.  I could not remember some of the older files so included all of the textures because many are in use in other models.  I have basically got to the point where I am swamped and I wanted to get the content out where people could pick out what they wanted.  The Solace work is in here as well as the High Clerist’s Tower. The High Clerist’s Tower in particular is being updated, but at least folks can start building.  There are many scaling issues to be adressed, please send those along as well.

This is a house I created for a NeverwinterNight2 project entitled Tales of the Lance.  Created in 3DS Max, textured in Photoshop, and then added to a scene created in VUE xStream.

I just submitted screenshots and a release date for Solace Pack #1 to the vault!  Yeah.  It may not show up for a day or two, however, release date for Solace Pack #1 will be 15APR10.  Some things need a final tweak, butI expect no delays to this date.  FYI, this is not a module, but the custom content I have been working on.  I will continue to work on content and release items in packs when they are ready.

Included will be the following models with diffuse, normal, specular, and glow maps.  Models will have walkmesh where appropriate, hookpoints, and collision mesh.  All textures will be 512×512 in DDS.  High Res will be made available if interest is shown.  All models will be released in override format, HAK format, and will include a custom TLK.

Looks like a good night for a stroll.

 

     If you hadn’t noticed, the posts have been a bit sparse, but only because I have been hammering away.  You can see some major updates to the houses and there has been some big time building going on as well.  I am working on the 2nd and 3rd Vallenwood Tress right now, but only in an effort to make sure they work properly with the first.  I am trying to cut down on issues after release.  I now have a date in mind to release the first tree and the models that go along with it.  I’ll keep that date tucked away until I am sure I can make it.  It is soon though.  In the mean time… enjoy.
